Former presidential candidate, Dr Kizza Besigye, continues to lay claim to the 2016 elections and accuse NRM National Chairman, President Yoweri Museveni, of grabbing his victory and clinging to power (Sunday Monitor, March 3, 2019). This is an old claim that has lost its sting so much so that Dr Besigye is now fighting for his political survival while on the slope to oblivion.
The few media appearances he stages are only stretching time to give him a soft landing in the ashes of political history. The best of him is far behind. If the regrettable incident at Bulange where he was accosted by a group of youths apparently disgusted with him has not educated him of the fact that his irritating rhetoric will continue backfiring, then he will suffer more occupational hazards of his obstinacy. It’s only a matter of time.
NRM National Chairman does not cling to power. Ugandans love him, they vote him! NRM has over 12million members and they vote. How many does FDC have? How many did Maj. Gen. Muntu walk away with? Besigye is no threat to anyone. Only his paltry extremists believe in him. He only remains with a name like a diluted chemical.
