A high powered team from the NRM Secretariat has today submitted a whooping 5 million signatures to the Independent Electoral Commission in support of the nomination of the party’s 2021 Presidential flagbearer, President Yoweri Museveni.
The team was led by Deputy Secretary General, Richard Todwong and Deputy Treasurer, Jackline Kyatuheire.
Nominations are due in November but the team acted early enough and gathered signatures from dully eligible voters from all districts of the country, overshooting the requirement of 100 signatures from each of two thirds of the districts in Uganda by far.
The five million signatures in support of Museveni’s nomination means that the NRM National Chairman has a starting advantage of the same number of votes.
They are more than the 51% required to gain a straight first round win.
Such figures are a nightmare to other competitors, most of whom cannot even find candidates to contest in most districts or agents to man polling stations.
Thanks to all signatories who have willingly supported the National Chairman’s nomination! They should equally turn up in large numbers to ensure that their signatures are not submitted in vain.
#YKMuseveni 2021 Victory assured!
