State House Health Monitoring Unit Investigates Case of “Mutilated” Baby At Naguru Hospital

The anguish of a mother and her family after they were handed a dead and “mutilated” new born baby has seen the State House Health Monitoring Unit swing into action. Ms. Barbara Akankwasa a resident of Mulimira zone Bukoto gave birth normally at Naguru General Hospital but her joy of having a child was dashed when doctors brought her a dead baby instead. The corpse had a stitch all around the neck, prompting suspicion by the mother than her child could have been mutilated and body organs extracted for unknown reasons.

On getting a tip about the bizarre case, the unit director, Dr. Ojera Jackson, swung into action to establish the facts of the matter.

He promised that all will be done to get to the bottom of the matter and called for calm. He extended deep sympathies to the family.

Additional to investigating the above case, Dr. Ojera said that the unit is looking into other complaints received from the public on the services offered at the modern hospital which was opened in 2012.

The State House Health Monitoring Unit was established to carry out specialized monitoring of health services in the country to ensure professionalism and patient satisfaction.
